Polistes gallicus
The Large Paper Wasp builds an irregularly shaped nest up to 12 cm across and usually in rubble walls and on the leaves of the Prickly Pear containing many wasps. They are irritated very easily if they are disturbed, especially in the hot months.
This hive full of wasps was found on a passageway over tunnels.
This wasp hive was about 10-15 cm across and 5-8 cm long.
