Ethiopian swallow

Hirundo aethiopica

Description:

Small bird, 14cm in average length. Black covers (upperparts and wing covers) with pure white underparts (belly and chest). Interrupted black throat collar helps with identification. Rusty frontal spot.

Habitat:

Here seen in center of Guéréda town, in our compound. Guéréda is a town in Wadi Fira region, in open Sahel semi arid savanna, with some woodlands.

Notes:

It took me couple of days to get a chance for this series, and that was rather frustrating... I was seeing these swallows every day! every morning and evening, they were flying and chasing flies, together with a bunch of swifts. In flight, both are a nightmare to click, so it was really frustrating. Until the morning on 26 of March, when this fella decided to calmly pose - it even came back, allowing me to take him or her from various angles... Thanks, little fella, that was really nice experience again - not so for swifts, regarding those, I see them regularly on my travelling, but still have no photo of any of species in my collection...
