Red-Eared Slider Turtle

Trachemys scripta elegans

Description:

The turtle was about 4 1/2" long. There were about six other Red-Eared Sliders sunbathing in the same pond. I have never seen a turtle sunbathe on a lilly pad before!

Habitat:

A very shallow pond, only about 3-4" deep. There were lots of yellow water lilies, mosquito fish, and a few snapping turtles.
