From Bugguide: "The name 'sharpshooters' refers to their habit of forcing excess water droplets out of the tip of the abdomen with an audible popping noise."
I didn't know that either, I thought it had to do with their shape too.
is it the sharp snout that qualifies it to be called a sharpshooter?
