Yellow Buttons

Chrysocephalum apiculatum

Description:

Chrysocephalum apiculatum, commonly known as common everlasting and yellow buttons, is a perennial herb that belongs to the daisy family Asteraceae. The species is native to southern Australia. It grows in sunny locations on light, well-drained soil in grassy areas. It is an important food plant for the Australian painted lady (Vanessa kershawi), a butterfly. PS: This was the only cluster of flowers I spotted on this track.

Habitat:

Spotted along a sandy track at Lake Broadwater Conservation Park.... https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/lake-... This is a very flat area in a region known as the Darling Downs. Dalby is the nearest town. NB: Just a little over 12 months ago and the lake was completely dry and bushland totally parched due to the massive drought that Australia experienced. It's wonderful to see how the lake and surrounding bushland has recovered. Birdlife was abundant, and vegetation was green and lush.
