Stick Insect, Phasmid

Tisamenus sp

Description:

This spiny Phasmids are from the genus Tisamenus from the sub-family of Obriminae, known to have spines on them. The genus Tisamenus can be identified by the triangular shape structure on their thorax and also 'false eyes' giving them a tribal face look. This is my first time to see this red band variation (Pic#1) on the genus. Pic#3 is a pair, with the smaller male on top of the bigger female.

Habitat:

Tropical forest, endemic to North Luzon
