Thanks again for your information. Now I have information that I can use in the future. I will try to do better with my mushroom photos and learn to do spore prints. It sounds like an interesting thing to learn. :)
Hmm, well they still look like C. molybdites to me. Next time take a spore print. It will be greenish for C. molybdites and white for other Lepiotoids, including the edible ones. If you want to eat mushrooms you find you're best of using a site like Mushroom Observer where there are tons of experts.
I did not get close enough to check the gills, they were across a small gully and in the forest edge. They were in dappled shade in a heavy layer of pine needles. I was with a group and falling behind, so.... not my best effort...sorry.

It's proving to be a very fulfilling hobby for me! Spore printing is simple and very useful.

Just added a closer look at the gills. They look mostly white to me. There is a small ring at the base of the stem.

Chlorophyllum, likely C. molybdites. Were the gills greenish?
