Description:

Black beetle about 10mm long with depressions that reflect rainbow-like colors in the right light.

Habitat:

This beetle was on a large tree along a reservoir in Cheraw State Park in northern South Carolina.

It's the way the light hits them, but they did look like that in all the shots I got.

What an amazing beetle. Is it a trick of the light or are the spots really orange on one side, green on the other?
