I think tits may like colder or more temperate climates.Here they are very abundant. In any case there are indeed lots of birdies in your area as well..and yes, is sad that many will not make it through the year, though. At least we can still enjoy seeing them..I hope people will get more conscious with nature and environment in the future, let´s see..
Blue Tits are extremely rare here but we get scores of other birds nesting around the house and garden. Perhaps 75% of most species never make it to 1 year so the average of the survivors could be considerably higher.
Yes Malcom, I also wonder whether is the same pair/s returning. I think these actually spend the winter here and live in the backyard garden behind my house. I think part of their survival is by hiding under the roof when is too cold. Now they are again nesting. We just saw them yesterday going in and out :-)
Just wonder how often the same pair turns up the following year. Although ringing records show they can live up to 21 years their average life expectancy is only 1½ years.

Oh, thank you people! ;-) These birdies are my neighbors, they nest every year in the roof of the house next door and I see them fom my terrace :-)
