I had never heard of it either, but I was looking for a microscope and I found it on ebay. But they're not even comparable (Leica ir something wonderful), but this one does the job, too :) And your photos look great, so I guess that the age really hasn't done much to it :)
Wow, look at all that bryophyte cover! Seems like a great scope for bryophytes, I've never hear of Radical. Yeah i miss the days of premium research grade microscope access. i used Leicas during my programs; I love their crystal clear imagery. I use an old Olympus CH. Its from the 70's but has hardly been used, and does the job.
I added a photo of the habitat :) I was walking along that trail and collecting every moss, liverwort and lichen I could find :) here in my country we have both species: yours and mine. And in my book it was written that yours doesn't grow higher than 7 cm, but mine can grow up to 12 cm. And yours can have thread like "branches" that hold together the soil. Light microscope. To be very precise -> second from the top (Model RMH-4B) http://www.radicalindia.com/Research-Mic... At university (where I study) we have Leica light microscopes, they are so great!

awesome! I've never heard of this species. It appears to have a bit more of a stout growth habit. What kind of microscope do you use?
