Spotting

Description:

White puffy fungus growing on the side of a redwood trail. It's placement and formation made me think it grew on some scat left behind by a largish critter but I saw no real evidence of that.. Not that I looked very hard. Many of the tops were broken. They appeared to have been kicked by curious feet. The tops were ball like with brownish peaks or tufts almost like little meringues. The stems (not sure that's the right term in shroom speak) were thick, sturdy and foamy. The heads appeared to also be form, thick and foamy. They were dry seeming and not slimy.
