Intermediate Egret,

Ardea intermedia or Egretta intermedia

Description:

Height about 2 to 3 feet, all white feathers, long orange beak, legs are brown to black.

Habitat:

They are seen all over the world in the tropics, sometimes in Northern cool states they can be seen wading in water until migration season.

Notes:

Easy bird to take photo of as long as you dont move too close, they scare easily. My back yard I can see hundreds in the rice fields especially when harvest season, fish, frogs, snakes and insects are stirred up making it Thanksgiving day for them, during the slow season they waddle into my yard looking for frogs after the rainfall. This picture was taken in my front yard. They are very common riding or walking beside water buffalo.
