Kōura (spiny crayfish)

Jasus edwardsii

Description:

This species is commonly called crayfish or crays in New Zealand and "kōura" in Māori. They resemble lobsters, but lack the large characteristic pincers on the first pair of walking legs. We spotted this unfortunate crayfish, in the hands of a diver/fisherman, who was eager to go and boil him, straight away, and he wasn't very happy to have me around, snapping pics... Anyway, that's it, although I'm not really happy about it...
