Common Five-lined Skink

Plestiodon fasciatus

Description:

This nice male skink was doing a bit of hunting and found himself a small worm in the leaf litter. He sustained some damage to his tail in the past and it regrew well and with a second tail. Two for the price of one! He did not seem to be inhibited by his extra appendage at all.

Habitat:

Semi-suburban neighborhood with small areas of temperate woodland.
