Great Egret

Ardea alba

Description:

Horicon Marsh, in Horicon, Wisconsin, is probably my favorite place to bird and photograph. I personally go up, from Milwaukee, to see the Great Egrets, which stay for the summer then migrate for the winter. This particular Egret was one of 6 left on the marsh and was busy, perhaps, reflecting on the wonderful summer he had... or maybe... the long flight ahead.

Fabulous Matthew. These are the sort of pictures that make me want to get something better than a 'pocket camera'.
