This medium sized (approx 30cm) and strikingly colored bird - patterned black, grey and white - belong to lapwing and plover family Charadriidae. The species also possess a wing spur and red eye - both of these are unfortuantely not visible in this set of photos.
Seen wading in pairs on shores of soda lake Elementaita in Kenya.
