Scarlet Macaw

Description:

This scarlet macaw is more than 60cm long, from the head to the tip of its tail. The plumage is mostly scarlet, except for the wings which are scarlet, yellow and blue. They are found mainly in pairs and they mate for life. Their squeaks and screams are very loud and high designed to carry many miles to call for their groups.

Habitat:

Humid lowland rain forest of Osa Penisula, Costa Rica. They are found from Mexico to South America.

Spotted on the hike to Rio Claro from Drake Bay, Osa Penisula, Costa Rica.
