Ochre Sea Star

Pisaster ochraceus

Description:

These starfish were very plentiful at this beach among the rocks. Some were orange and some were purple/maroon. In the second photo you can see a tight cluster of them. I looked through a hole in the rock and saw all of them together.

Habitat:

Rocky beach among many mussels and anemones at Schoolhouse Beach, Bodega Bay
