A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Buteo lineatus
About the size of a Red-tailed Hawk, but colored as shown with distinctively banded tail for a buteo.
Outskirts of a rural town, with mostly agricultural fields and fragmented hardwood forest. Near a large reservoir.
Only the one individual was seen. The temperature was -4° F, mid-morning. Several different kinds of small songbirds were in the immediate vicinity as well. Map location is estimated.
