A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Meleagris gallopavo intermedia
Probably the prettiest male I have seen! There were no lady turkeys around, and he was just walking back and forth. I know if you make loud noises at them, they will gobble back. So I made really bad gobble noises at him, and every time I did it he would respond and puff up. And I was having way too much fun doing it haha.
Behind a campground in Palo Duro Canyon SP. Lots of cottonwood trees, and a small creek.

beautiful series, ashley! love it!
They are pretty cool, Hema!
Would like to see a Rio Grande one day! Looks regal!
Oh I know how that goes! I have two cats and they mean way more to me than anything else on this planet haha. I hate leaving them for trips too!
Thanks Ashley! The tips on wild life are awesome. Seems exciting but leaving my cat behind makes me really sad. It is funny how pets become family!
I went to Rocky Mtn National Park in CO, those parks you mention aren't close to where I was at. I've only been to CO, NM, and AZ as far as western states go, so not sure I can be of much help? Just wildlife tips in general, birds are best in morning and evening. Herps depend on temperatures, but most will be morning and evening as well, though lizards and a few snakes will be active all day long. Mammals should be active all day as long as the afternoon doesn't get too hot. Those places seem great for wildlife though, so I'm sure you will see a lot and have a fantastic time!
Ashley, since you have been to Colorado recently, I was wondering if you could give me few ideas! We are planning a visit to Yellow Stone National park and Glacier Nation park and the Grand tetons. Any do's and don'ts? also what to expect and what time of the day to see it?
Excited!!!!
This was right near a pretty active campground, so they are fairly used to people. Makes my life easier!
Great series! I just wished the ones out here weren't so crazy shy!
