Description:

Beginnings of the seeds/propagules shown in the first photo, a flower a little past its prime in photo 2, prop roots shown in photo 3, leaves shown in photo 4. I also added a couple of zoomed out photos to show the general appearance of the plant.

Habitat:

Close to the water's edge in a coastal marsh. Redfish Hole Trailhead Crystal River Preserve State Park

Notes:

Mangroves are keystone species. Their roots stabilize the soil, help prevent coastal erosion, and provide hiding places for a variety animals.
