A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Carlina vulgaris
Carline thistle is a natural hygrometer. During dry sunny days, the petals are spread out. If the air is humid, the petals start to curl up and if it rains, they form a dome over the heart of the flower. All the photos are of the same individual plant. The first two photos are taken at 7 o'clock in the morning while the rest three at 12 noon.
Deciduous forest roadside.
