Description:

Foliose lichen, with tubular, hollow lobes and slightly roughened surfaces. It presents rounded soralia, becoming capitate lobes. Green-grey coloured above, dark brown to black beneath and lacking rhizines. Apothecia are rare, stalked, with red-brown discs.

Habitat:

Widespread and common on acid-barked trees, often with H. physodes. Spotted on a Holm oak tree bark.
