Brown Snapping Shrimp

Description:

Photo take at -30 ft on a coral reef this small red-brown shrimp is also now as the Caribbean pistol shrimp it was hard to get a photo from it, about 3 cm long the bigger clamp altered Alphaeus functions as a water gun: when the muscles contract suddenly shrimp, the mobile part of the clamp is carried out by a member to a threshold integumentary; when this voltage threshold is reached, the moveable jaw (called the "finger") closes abruptly in the fixed part (called the" palma ") to expel the water violently between the two parties.Is the explosion of the air bubble that makes the noise burst is perceived underwater.

Habitat:

Caribbeans sea , Central America to north Brazil, shallow waters usually has a symbiotic relation whit some anemones.

This is also known as the pistol shrimp. However you are the first person i found who found the pistol shrimp!
