Rana catesbeiana
Approximately 4-6", brownish-green upper body, white/tan on underbody. Speckled. Long tail with rounded front body/head.
Pond.
This tadpole is partway between tadpole and frog. It has begun to breath air and came to the surface quite often for a gulp of air. It is still more tadpole than frog; no legs have begun to show.

Thanks, AlexRowe! The shot was one of those lucky photographic gifts :)
Great capture in the breath shot! Nice series!
(I'm way behind in responding to comments.) Thank you, LisaPowers, Gerardo Aizpuru, VictoriaShirleyPhotography and AshelyT! He certainly does look like a pufferfish or opera singer, doesn't he! I got a real lucky shot as he broke the surface of the water for a gulp of air.
