Sauropus androgynus
Sauropus androgynus, also known as katuk, star gooseberry, or sweet leaf, is a shrub grown in some tropical regions as a leaf vegetable. Its multiple upright stems can reach 2.5 meters high and bear dark green oval leaves 5–6 cm long. I posted this as unknown a month ago. The two ID suggestions I got did not match. I am still waiting for a correct ID suggestion. Hope somebody will be kind enough. This is a slender bush and not a tree. The fruit contains seeds like dhal that can be cooked and eaten like dhal. The leaves can be cooked and eaten like spinach.
This is not a tree. It is a small bush type plant whose leaves are eaten cooked like spinach, with or without dhal. The dhal like seed is also cooked like dhal. Thank you PatriciaPI, Chief RedEarth, Ashish Nimkar
