American Kestrel

Description:

A small falcon with beautiful slate blue and rusty brown color pattern, spattered with black spots, and striking black and white vertical bands on the face.

Habitat:

Open field of mostly bare dirt on either side of a creek. Several mesquite and black willow trees are spaced pretty far apart.

Notes:

The bird sits perched atop the highest point of the tree at dusk looking down over a section of Furneaux Creek undergoing major construction for channel improvements.
