White Crab Spider

Misumena vatia

Notes:

I spotted this one on a zinnia in my flower garden on September 13 2012. I had never seen this spider before. It didn't move even when nudged. It remained on the same flower for about a week and a half then one morning I noticed it was gone. Later that afternoon I spotted it again on another flower. I think it moves when the flower started to wither. It curls the petals around itself a little and hides. When a moth or butterfly lands on the flower it catches it. The morning of October 5th I saw it shooting a web into the wind and a few hours later it was gone.
