This is a purple iris. It has many different shades of purple with yellow on the lower end of the flower. The leaves of an iris are green and a bit pointy on the top.
This was found in my backyard in a bed with other iris plants. The climate when found was warm and sunny.
The iris plants in the area found had just recently bloomed.
