Field Slug

Deroceras reticulatum

Description:

A field slug, when born is a hermaphrodite, which is both male and female. It eats field crop and plants. It also has antenna. When it is an egg it looks like a small, clear pearl like ball. They are born in big groups. When they are Neonates [baby slugs], they are smaller than a cm and do not travel far from home. Then they turn into juvenile slugs. They live in burrows and cracks in the soil. All adults are capable of laying eggs. They live up to 6 to 12 months and very rarely up to 18 months.

Habitat:

We found our slug in a field near the school.
