Ridged Tooth

Hydnellum scrobiculatum

Description:

Depressed, bumpy cap that was about 5 cm across. The margin was wavy, and the surface of the cap was slightly shiny and soft to the touch. On the undersurface, it had brownish, decurrent spines. The flesh had a mealy smell.

Habitat:

Growing on rotting wood in a mixed forest that was dominated by pine.

Notes:

This is the first spotting of this species on Project Noah.
