Rice Grasshoppers (Nymph)

Pseudoxya diminuta

Description:

Group or cloud of green grasshopper nymphs. There could be almost a hundred of them in assembly on the canna lily leaves. Each nymph is about 1cm in length. The cover pic was added on Nov 23, 2012. It was taken on Nov 10 when I checked on the progress of the nymphs. By that time, only about 25 of them stayed on the plant, and each was around 1.5cm or a little short of 2cm in length.

Habitat:

Spotted on canna lily leaves, in the backyard, just before sundown.

Thanks Mayra. They were so voracious! When they're done, there was no leaf left at the Calla Lily plant.
