Yellow-green crust fungus

Description:

This large patch of fungal matter might have been all gold-yellow originally but the bulk of the surface seems to have been removed, possibly cosumed by some small animal. The main part was then a pale pistachio green. The whole patch was about 40cm long. The remaining margins were a very rich gold-yellow.

Habitat:

On the trunk of a very large Sassafras tree in a nature reserve rainforest.

Notes:

Yet to identify this.
