Giant African millipede

Archispirostreptus gigas

Description:

More than 20 cm long (second photo for size), dark brown or black with reddish legs.

Habitat:

Found in rainforest close to town Kindia, in dark and humid undergrowth near the pathway.

Notes:

Many thanks to Karen Puracan for pointing the ID of this species - following her suggestion I did find some materials, and the species was recorded in East Africa and South Arabia... not in West Africa yet. I did see this species more than once in Guinea, in all parts where there is a tropical forest.

Many thanks Karen. I'm still a bit confused about it, since there are no records of its range in West Africa...
