I've been looking at this spotting and I think I am pretty sure that this is a different species. This looks very similar to the caterpillar of the Waved Sphinx, Ceratomia undulosa:

If you have any other views of this caterpillar it would be helpful for confirmaton of the species.

Manduca quinquemaculata does not have the white bands on the head and has a straight blue-black horn.
