I've been looking at this spotting and I think I am pretty sure that this is a different species. This looks very similar to the caterpillar of the Waved Sphinx, Ceratomia undulosa: http://bugguide.net/node/view/3749
If you have any other views of this caterpillar it would be helpful for confirmaton of the species.
Manduca quinquemaculata does not have the white bands on the head and has a straight blue-black horn.
