Asian Water Monitor

Varanus salvator

Description:

We live next to the jungle, so we often get jungle animals scampering through our yard. In this case, this lizard had walked through the subdivision's drainage gutter and ended up in our backyard! The local caretakers managed to herd it back through the drainage and into the jungle. He is safely back in the jungle now.

Habitat:

Rainforest

Hi there. Since you know the identity of your organism, please go ahead and fill in the scientific name field. This assists groups and individuals to find your spotting and consider the data that it contributes. It also takes the spotting off the "unidentified" list. With the addition of a reference link (preferably 3) in the spaces provided, the basic information for ID purposes is considered complete. Of course, additional information in the other spaces is helpful and appreciated. Thank you!

Hello and welcome to Project Noah! This looks like a captive animal. Please state that if it is the case in the description field. For Habitat, use the habitat of the spotting. In this case the name of the facility (zoo). Once the species is identified adding references can provide the general information on the species including typical habitat. Thanks
