We have burrowing owls in Las Vegas, and in close-by Arizona...but they are having a tough time here. Development and no prairie dogs (fewer burrows adaptable to burrowing owls) are some of the issues. The Audubon Society has several artificial burrows under their management. I am glad to see they are doing better elsewhere. Great spotting!

Great series!Also gives an idea of the relative and realistic size of the owl! Last time I spent a great deal of time in Bolsa chica wetlands,looking for something much bigger than these.
