Sap Beetle

Family: Nitidulidae

Description:

A 2 mm long, slightly flattened beetle with glossy black elytra. The prontum was brown with black patterns. A small head had shiny black eyes with short antennae that ended in 3-segmented knobs.

Habitat:

Spotted inspecting the gills of a mushroom ( pics 2 & 3) growing in sodden soil.
