Orange larva with black stripes and spots, orange setae, black tufts

Habitat:

Woodland, yard

Notes:

A striking caterpillar that took me years to ID correctly. It's fairly rare here. Some common host plants include alder, birch, poplar, hawthorn and willow

After looking at more images of this larva online I'm not positive it's a Acronicta dactylina. Maybe someone else can tell for sure?

Oh sorry Lauren, it turns into a dagger moth. I don't think I have ever seen the adult.
