Merlin

Falco columbarius

Description:

This guy had hit my picture window. I folded in his wings and set him upright. I stayed with him until he came to. I took this picture and he or she flew off. A week or so later it took a song bird from my bird feeder.

Ferruginous Hawk average about 23" in size, this bird is way smaller than that when you compare it to its surroundings. This is a female Merlin of the Taiga subspecies (F.c. columbarius).

Great to see she was fine. She was probably hunting for sparrows around your house.
