Sandhill Crane

Grus canadensis

Notes:

Are these Great Blue Herons? I maxed out my 18x zoom to take these pics, which is why they are such poor quality. Lol. They were in a neighbors field, so I didn't exactly have access. There's no water around either. At first we thought they were either Canada Geese or Turkeys, because they were so large! But after getting out the camera, it was very obvious that they were neither. In the first picture you can kinda see a black tuft on the back of one of the birds heads (near the right of the photo.) ~~~ The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation suggested the ID! =D

Yeah the body shape is too bulky and the head is not big. I would agree they are cranes.

Ah! The Oklahoma Wildlife Department just suggested Sandhill Cranes as well!

They look like Sandhill Cranes. Did they have a little bit of red on the tops of their heads?
