Huge, long-legged white bird, long, thick, down-curved bill, head black and bald. Wings white with extensive black flight feathers.
Near ponds.
A few years ago, we had a mating pair next to our lake in east Texas. Unfortunately, I never got any photos of them. Sadder still, I've not seen them return. They are really awesome.
