Centipede

Scolopendra sp.

Description:

Flattened, segmented body with legs on the segments. First shot with flash; second without. Head is reddish in colour. Reportedly, bites are painful.

Habitat:

There was caramelized masala stuck inside my wok and I left it to soak in the kitchen sink along with a couple of teaspoons underneath. When I finally decided it had soaked enough, I pulled the spoons out first and almost pulled out this one as well. It was hiding under the wok having crawled up through the pipe...I had seen it (or its siblings) in the yard outside but this is the first time one crawled into the kitchen!

Notes:

As kids in India say...No minding...I am adding it to Backyard habitats although technically kitchen is not a backyard.
