Double-crested Cormorants (Nesting)

Phalacrocorax auritus

Description:

There were many of them nesting on the crags of these rock columns. Their beaks looked more orange than red to me; their eyes looked blue. Closer to town I usually see Pelagic Cormorants. I did see some Pelagic Cormorants swimming in the water near these rocks and also on some smaller rocks in this bay, but they seemed to stay off these two larger stacks where these were nesting.

Habitat:

Nesting on the crags of very large rock columns/stacks near to shore of Afognak Island
