Ficus callophylla
The thick-leaf Fig (Ficus callophylla) has broad thick leaves and that is why the species name means stick stiff leaves in Latin. Fruits are pinkish and have a pointed fruit tip. This fig plant is a strangler which grows on host trees as epiphytes and slowly cover the whole tree over time. There are several of these fig tree in close proximity.
Growing by the sandy beach on a protected island.
Borneo is home to over 150 species of wild figs and my organization (1StopBorneo Wildlife) is trying to document them all to understand the ecological roles of figs better to aid in our reforestation projects.
