Eurasian Nuthatch

Sitta euroaea ssp caesia

Description:

Small passerine bird, 12 to 15 cm of total length, from Sittidae family. Easily recognized by big head, (almost) neckless body and long pointed bill. Ssp caesia has a rusty-buff breast and belly.

Habitat:

Mainly deciduous woods on a marshy lands, near Jura mountains.

Notes:

Eurasian is the commonest nuthatch, and subspecies caesia is widespread in continental Europe.
