Bandit angelfish

Apolemichthys arcuatus

Description:

Gold and white reef fish 8-9 inches long with prominent lateral black band running from in front of its eyes to just above its tail. There is also a smaller, shorter black band extending from the rear ventral side around the trailing edge of the tail.

Habitat:

Nearshore tropical reef.

Notes:

Spotted close to a vertical reef wall ~ 80 feet deep offshore of Poipu Beach, Kauai.
