Cymothoe caenis ssp conformis
Apparently very variable species. This white subspecies is very common in DR Congo.
Seen in equatorial forest surrounding Kinshasa, close to water.
Actually, seen in 'Lola ya Bonobo', or Bonobo sanctuary in Kinshasa suburbs. At this time of the year, there were plenty of these butterflies, at moments it felt like being surrounded by a clouds of them. They fed frantically on any organic matter - in third photo there are plenty of them feeding on rotting banana...
Welcome! You just can add Cymothoe caenis conformis in the scientific field. There is no need to add ssp., the third name automatically means the subspecies ;-)
Nymphalidae, Limenitidinae, Adioladini, Cymothoe caenis conformis, possibly the male.
