Arctocephalus tropicalis
Similar to NZ Fur Seal. Adult males about 130kg. Dark grey-brown but with diagnostic yellow/cream face and bib.
A species that took a hammering during the sealing days. Now fully protected but still recovering. Main rookeries are in the southern Atlantic and Indian Oceans and still only a vagrant in the southern Pacific.
This adult male seen in the Antipodes Islands where it is still only an occasional vagrant.
