Yellow-blossom 'Ohi'a (Lehua Mamo)

Description:

Rare yellow blossoms of ‘ohi‘a lehua.

Habitat:

Tropical montane bog.

Notes:

Spotted on the western edge of Mt. Kaala bog, where the Mt. Kaala trail emerges from the bog and begins to descend into Waianae Valley. These blossoms are on a glabrous-leafed variety of ‘ohi‘a. A variety with pubescent leaves may be seen in the right background of both images.
